First off, we have the element of air. The qualities that air represents include: ideas, inspiration, creativity, intelligence, travel, freedom, new beginnings and mental clarity. If you want a spell for any of these ideas, you should incorporate air into your magic. Items like feathers, bells, incense and quartz all have air attributes.
Next is earth. This is an element that stands for grounding, all forms of nature, money and prosperity, growth, rules and responsibility. If you want to represent earth on your altar, you can use a pentacle, stones, or a bowl of earth or rock salt. For crystals and herbs are often used since they are natural items directly from the earth.
Next up for elemental magic spells is fire. Candle spells are the most popular kind of witchcraft spell, and are a good example of using fire. Fire should be used for spells involving passion, energy, strength, creativity and anger. Items for fire include candles (obviously) as well as volcanic glass, and the athame (though some traditions have the athame associated with air) Fire spells usually involve candles, but not always.
And lastly we come to water. Water energies are often used in spells for love, fertility, friendship, healing and sleep. But spells don't often call for actual water. Crystals like aquamarine and moonstone make great "water" additions, as do herbs like lilac. A chalice is the usual altar tool to represent the element of water. If you do use water in your water spells, try to use naturally collected rainwater. For a different sort of magic, use your water in ice spells instead.
Nothing interests a person in witchcraft like the promise of love. And finding free easy love spells is your first step to adding some romantic magic to your life. There is no need to wonder if love spells work.
But when you are looking for love magic. you need to be more specific than just "love spells". That can cover a whole range of possible intentions, desires and situations.
Do witches really need free money spells? Well, they may say that the love of money is the root of all evil, but that's doesn't mean we can't use a little extra financial boost now and again.
Using spells for money shouldn't be against anyone's ethics, as long as you are honest with yourself about your need for some extra prosperity (more on money spell ethics). Casting a spell because you really want a bigger TV or a new car is a poor use of magic and will most likely not be successful. A good money spell that works is a realistic one.
Using magic to protect yourself can be a smart idea, and protection spells come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. There are various ways of protecting yourself with witchcraft, or to remove negative influences from your life.
How you approach it will depend on the situation. And as I will be repeating on other pages, do not rely on magic alone if you are in serious danger. If you are ever truly threatened, stalked or harassed, you should always contact the police before relying on a spell for protection.
I've decided to expand out into black magic spells. I figured that people should be able to make their own ethical decisions on using witchcraft, and not get too hung up on the whole black/white concept. Who am I to decide for you what is right or wrong for your life or circumstances?
Healing spells are some of the most popular types of magic, after love and money spells, of course.
Unfortunately, spells for health can be tricky because they involve a lot more than the subtle influences used to find a partner or gain some financial improvements. Doing magic to physically heal the body is not always successful because you are trying to influence some very concrete physical conditions.
If you're looking to take advantage of the magic of the full moon, you can try my full moon love spells or the full moon spells page for a good wish spell.
Of course, it's not only the full moon that has power. There is a lot more to all of the moon phases.
